Ministry Update: Wisconsin

Greetings!

I just returned from a five day trip to NE Wisconsin. This was BCI’s thirty-first trip to the area in the past 2 2/2 years! So far, we have over 180 certificate graduates in the Green Bay/Appleton area, and another 350 students who have attended portions of the training. God has blessed our efforts immeasurably and  His message (Biblical Sufficiency for the Counseling task) is being seeded into many churches and throughout the communities. Later this year, we will graduate another class of 25 Certified Counselors… and new opportunities for 2010 abound!

Valley Baptist Church, Appleton, WI One of our host churches, Valley Baptist in Appleton, WI was the site of our continuing Certificate Program the weekend of Aug. 21 and 22, 2009 . We completed two more courses, Evangelism in Biblical Counseling and Biblical Counseling with Chronic and Complicated Cases.

Valley Baptist will soon have a total of 12 Certified Counselors, including their Senior Pastor, Larry Creamer and Youth Pastor, Randy O’Brian. In September, the church will open the ValleyConnex Biblical Counseling Center… a Lay Counseling and Discipleship ministry staffed entirely by the pastoral staff and lay leaders of the church. It is exciting to see the Body of Christ reclaim this important aspect of ministry, answering the Biblical mandate to restore the fallen (Gal. 6:1-2) and evangelize the lost (Matt. 28:19-20).

It will be my honor to speak at both morning services at Valley Baptist Church on Sunday, September 20, 2009, dedicating the new counseling ministry and giving a charge (call) to the ministers and counselors who will serve. I encourage any of our graduates and students to join Valley Baptist on that special day of celebration.

Casa de Oracion, Appleton, WI It was my delight to preach at the Casa de Oracion (Hispanic Church) in Appleton on Saturday Aug. 22, 2009 with Pastor Aguilar. His wife Noemi, will graduate from the BCI certificate program later this year! This was my first opportunity to preach with a translator and it was indeed a challenge. But thanks be to God, the Spirit was active and alive, and we all shared in the bounty of God’s Word and a powerful time of worship.

Grace Reformed Church, Fond du Lac, WI On Sunday afternoon, Aug. 23rd, BCI had the opportunity to visit Fond du Lac, WI for the first time. Thanks to one of our students, Pastor Grant Baumgart, I was invited to teach an introductory class in biblical counseling and discipleship to approximately 50 new students! I will return to Fond du Lac the afternoon of Sept. 20, 2009 for a second class. If the Lord wills, we look forward to offering a full Certificate Program to churches in the Fond du Lac community in early 2010.

Please pray for our friends in Wisconsin as they are truly invested in the work of the Kingdom in an environment that is very secular. I have been inspired by the diligence and devotion of the Saints there, as they embrace the message of biblical sufficiency and reach out to their communities. I am always blessed in my journeys north!

Thank you all for your support of BCI and your service to our Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray for us as we continue to seek God’s will and direction. The remainder of this year takes us back to Wisconsin, Florida and Texas along with our local group of students in Alabama. Please check our website for our full schedule: www.bcinstitute.com. God is faithful!

God bless you!
